Math Monday: Mondrian Art Problem
March 15, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm

It’s time to become artists like Piet Mondrian!! Like Mondrian’s art, we will decide on placing rectangles on a square canvas where the whole canvas is used. Our goal is to get the lowest Mondrian score, which we get by subtracting the area of the largest rectangle with the area of the smallest rectangle. The only other thing to keep in mind is that no two rectangles in the painting can have the same dimensions! This week Javier Haro will challenge students to create Mondrian art pieces with smaller and smaller Mondrian scores.
